Princes
Risborough is a pretty market town on the Icknield Way between Aylesbury
and High Wycombe. Historians believe it takes its name from its association
with the Black Prince, who had a Manor house in Risborough.
The town has a large 17th century Manor House built
around a Jacobean staircase balustrade. The Manor House was eventually
bought by the Rothschild's and presented by them to the National
Trust in 1925.
The
Roman Catholic church of St Teresa Church was built in 1937 and
has a distinctive modern Byzantine style, built in the shape of
a rose, the church has a distinctive large central dome surmounted
by a cross.
In 1833 the population of Princes Risborough
was 2,400 today it is approximately 8,200. This growth has meant
changes to the town and Princes Risborough has much to offer. Amenities
include superstores, individual shops, various pubs and restaurants,
a sports centre, library, railway station and much more.
