St. Scholastica's Retreat | Sheltered Housing

The Retreat consists of 36 self-contained flats on ground and first floors, accommodated in 10 detached houses, each flat having its own front door entrance to the street. In addition there is a Warden's House, and a Community Building, which includes a Guest Suite for residents to use for their short stay visitors.

Each flat comprises Sitting Room, Bedroom, Kitchen and Bathroom. The flats back on to Communal Gardens and are all connected to a central alarm system, this is monitored by the duty warden or by the call centre
which takes over when the duty warden
is absent on business.

Miss Harrison was mindful of the need for residents to live in close proximity to a Catholic Church, hence St Scholastica's is situated within 5 minutes walking distance of St. Theresa's Church and a few minutes from Ker Maria Convent which is run by The Daughters of Jesus, from whom the Trustees purchased land in 1972 to build our present Retreat.
